Program overview: This program is designed to improve the care of wound care patients with chronic wounds including, but not limited to, management of venous disease, amputation prevention, wound vac & multi-layer compression wraps & nutrition and wound healing.

Joint providership with HaysMed & the University of Kansas Medical Center Continuing Education & Professional Development & Area Health Education Center West.
Following this program, the participants can be expected to:
*Reduce amputation rates through exam & referral to treatment.
*Identify venous disease by history & physical examination & need for specialty referral.
*Knowledge base of treatment options of patients with venous disease.
*Illustrate current strategies to manage wounds in the diabetic patient.
*Distinguish types of wounds that should be treated with negative pressure wound therapy.
*Express less apprehension when changing these types of dressings.
*Increased knowledge of correct application with hands-on participation.
*Understand current nutrition guidelines & recommendations for pressure ulcer treatment & prevention & properly address special considerations in older adults, obese patients & patients with diabetes.
*Provide practical suggestions to improve nutrition & hydration in wound care patients.
