Sternberg Traveling Exhibit: Sahara Sea Monsters
Monday, August 1, 2022
Be the first to see the world premiere of Sahara Sea Monsters, an immersive exhibition transporting visitors through the prehistoric oceans of what is now the Sahara. Discover massive mosasaurs, terrifying trilobites, & other outlandish invertebrates. These creatures defy imagination & make up the basis of myth & legends, you will need to see it to believe it!
The Sahara is a desert that covers all of the northern parts of Africa, it's a hot, dry, & unforgiving barren land. Yellow-red sand dunes rise & fall as far as the eye can see, an ocean of sand. It's hard to imagine that such a place once supported a large aquatic ecosystem. Stepping back in time about 600 million years ago, the Sahara was a warm rich ocean was full of a variety of marine life. From small invertebrate animals like trilobites to large ferocious beasts like Dunkleosteus.
Sahara Sea Monsters was built by Silver Plume Exhibitions LLC & features original artwork by Julius T. Csotonyi & animation by Julian Johnson Mortimer.
