The Volga German Oktoberfest in Hays boasts a wide range of traditional food, music, & drink.  As always the festival coincides with homecoming weekend at Fort Hays State University.

The Volga German Oktoberfest is an annual celebration of the German Russians of Ellis County. It is held at Municipal Park on the Friday of FHSU’s Homecoming Weekend. The festival includes various activities & booths that provide food, crafts, beer, & musical entertainment. The Volga German Society, established in 1974, promotes the heritage of the German immigrants through the annual Oktoberfest.

FRIDAY EVENTS:

*Opening Ceremonies 10:30 AM

*Tapping of Keg 11:00 AM

*Stein Holding Contest 2:00 PM (21 & over)

*Deutsch Hops Contest 4:00 PM (21 & over)

*OktoberFEAST Contest 5:00 PM (21 & over)

*HHS Homecoming Parade 5:00 PM

Oktoberfest Day 1 Closes 7:00 PM
